Triggerfish Nicknames!
Most Trigs know about our tradition of nicknames for all team members. And if you don't, now you do! But where did this tradition come from?
 Our very first leader was Lisa Simkins, who was known, amongst other things, for her sly sense of humour. Lisa often referred to the Trigs as "fishies", and began signing her e-mails with the self-proclaimed title of Tuna Commander.
Drew, who at the time was co-chair of the Downtown Swim Club, decided in a moment of spontaneity to sign a private e-mail to Lisa as "Sargeant Seahorse," the seahorse in reference to the swim club's logo and mascot. Lisa loved it, and proclaimed from her Tuna Commander throne that ALL Triggerfish should have nicknames.
And so, at our very first Christmas party, armed with fish encyclopedias and toys, everyone in the room was named. Some took well to their nicknames, and used them often (such as ex-member Garth, who was named "Free Willy", and our original goalies, all of whom ended up with glamorous name: Ethel Mermaid (Lawrence), Ariel (Joe S.), and.. err.. Ursula the Sea Witch (Ken).)
Since then, we regularly assign fishy/aquatic names to members - and strongly encourage members to pick one well in advance, rather than get stuck with some of the horrific things that come out of people's twisted brains ("Plankton," for instance, was summarily rejected by last year's absentee from the party. He'll be sure not to miss a party again!)
